Roko Ukic signed for Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce men’s basketball team transferred Croatian international point guard Roko Ukic from NBA team Milwaukee Bucks. Roko Ukic will be in Istanbul on the weekend.

It is believed that the presences of Croatian star Gordan Giricek and despite all the criticism still a legend in Balkans; Bogdan Tanjevic played an important role on the transfer.

Fenerbahce women’s basketball team won the Women’s Basketball Turkish Cup after beating arch-rivals Galatasaray 63-60 in the final.

Fenerbahce lead the game from the beginning but in the last period the point difference reduced, especially the last minute was action packed but thanks to the experience and quality Fenerbahce women’s basketball team have when it comes to critical minutes, the Turkish Cup stayed in the Fenerbahce trophy cabinet six times in a row.

Matee Ajavon named the MVP of the final, mainly for her brilliant performance and confident style of play at the last minutes of the game.

THe other semi-final is going to be played between Galatasaray CC – Samsun Basket. The winners of the semi-finals will play in the final, on 14 April.

Willie “The King” Solomon is finally back. The talented guard who moved to the NBA at the beginning of the season is now back to Fenerbahce and expected to sign a 2,5 year contract.

Solomon has a very special place in the fans’ hearts mainly with his passionate and devoted style of play. Thanks to this move, the team will not only fill the obvious gap in the guard position but also will add a great determination and spirit to the team play; the areas that Willie Solomon is the absolute expert.

Fenerbahce men’s basketball team face a tough CSKA Moscow test in the Euroleague TOP 16 group stage at 18:15 CET (+1 for local time) in Moscow, today.

Hopes might be still alive to qualify from the group but it is still a far possibility since it is up to other teams results and winning the remaining two games against CSKA Moscow and Montepaschi Siena (at least with a +9 points margin). Probabilites are more than one in this group and there is also a possibility of three teams having 3 wins in total, then the points scoring differences will be taken into consideration. Things will be clearer after this matchday.

Fenerbahce men’s basketball team surprisingly lost 86-64 to an hard working Cibona Zagreb in Euroleague TOP 16 Group Stage on the 4th matchday in Istanbul. Fenerbahce won the game in Zagrep two weeks ago and expected to record another comfortable win in Istanbul but the opponent showed an example of good team-play and caused an upset to Fenerbahce which will probably cost the qualification from the group where the top two teams will qualify.

Fenerbahce men’s basketball team qualified to the Final Four of Turkish Cup by beating T. Telekom 84-63 after a great performance in the quarter finals. Gordan Giricek named the MVP of the game after recording 18 points 5 rebounds 4 assists 2 steals.

Fenerbahce will face Efes Pilsen on the semi-final tomorrow at 17:15. The other semi-final game is between Erdemir and Galatasaray CC. The final of the cup will be played on Sunday.
