* Turkish Football Federation was founded in 1923. Therefore the official national leagues started to be played in 1923-1924. Before 1924, there were regional competitions in different regions. The regional competitions Fenerbahce participated in before 1924 were Istanbul League, Friday League,Sunday League, Istanbul Turkish United Training League, Istanbul United Football League, Istanbul Championship League and Istanbul Football League. The first competition organized and Fenerbahce participated in was Istanbul League, a league which started in 1904. As these competitions were played before the Turkish FA founded (1923) and were not nation wide ones, the championships in these competitions can not be named as national championships therefore these competitions are left out in the championship counts in the Turkish football history.

N O T E S

Note 1: Competitions were cancelled in 1948 and 1949 due to the Olympics and Mediterranean Cup Organizations.
Note 2: Turkish FA accepted the application of Besiktas and counted their Turkish Federation Cup winnings in 1956-1957 and 1957-1958 seasons as regular league championship winnings. Turkish FA accepted this by declaring that those years Turkish Federation Cup winners were given the chance to represent Turkey in European Champions Cups therefore the winners should be named as league champions. This official decision was made by Turkish FA in 2002.
Note 3: Turkish National Amateur Football Championship competition was first organized in 1924. Due to the economic and social problems it could only be possible to organize it annually after 1932.
Note 4: This comptetition is downgraded to a reserve-amateur team competition in 1951 as the Turkish Football Federation started the Turkish League under professionalism in 1951. Therefore this competition had continued to be organized as a reserve-amateur team competition between 1951-1996.
Note 5: After this year, the Turkish National League is formed so the championship numbers in the Turkish National League were started taken into counting.
The Amateur Football Championship organization also continued while the Turkish National Laeage had been played and the champions of the rest of this competition are listed below. To underline again; the following championships are not taken into counting in national league championships.

Year – 1940 Champions : Eskisehir Demirspor
Year – 1941 Champions : Genclerbirligi
Year – 1942 Champions : Harp Okulu
Year – 1944 Champions : Fenerbahce
Year – 1945 Champions : Harp Okulu
Year – 1946 Champions : Genclerbirligi

Year – 1949 Champions : Ankaragucu
Year – 1950 Champions : Goztepe
Year – 1951 Champions : Besiktas
Year – 1952 to 1996 Check Notes ( Note 4)

Note 6: After 1949-1950 season till 1957-1958 season football competitions are made in regional based organizations such as Istanbul League, Ankara League, Izmir League. So it is not possible to name a national league champions for the years between 1950-1958. In the league Fenerbahce played (Istanbul Professional League) the champions in the mentioned years are:

    Valuable information!
Especially the parts about the old leagues and their details. What happened to those teams that became champions back in 1920’s and 1940’s? No signs from them after 1950’s.

Interesting to see that Fenerbahce only once waited 6 seasons at most to be the champions in the whole while Galatasaray waited for 14(!) seasons and Besiktas waited 15(!) seasons in 1970’s and 1980’s .

Fenerbahce have won 3 championships in the last 5 years. If i remember right the failure two in this five years, Fenerbahce were the runners-up. Thats a good percentage at all.
